Did you know that August is National Children’s Vision and Learning Month? It’s also back to school time! While you’re likely busy getting your children ready for back to school, or prepping yourself for the return to school and/or work, we wanted to remind you of the importance of an annual eye exam. Comprehensive eye exams go beyond the average visual screening and can detect visual problems, eye diseases, and also indicate other health issues. It is recommended that school-aged children and teens get an eye exam yearly.

Vision Monday, the optical industry’s leading news site, reports that 60 percent of children who’ve been identified as “problem learners” actually suffer from undetected vision problems, according to studies from the American Optometric Association. The studies even reported that in certain cases, children have been inaccurately diagnosed with common learning disorders such as attention deficit disorder (ADD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Now that school is right around the corner and sports seasons are upon us, be sure to schedule your back to school annual eye exam appointment today by calling 620-221-2020.
